Robert Stehlik shows how he likes to measure, size, cut and hot glue the Blue Planet Kai Zen V2 paddle. It’s recommended to cut the paddle from the bottom, so a taller paddler uses the thinner part of the shaft while a taller paddler uses the thicker, stiffer part of the shaft. The oval ferrules prevent twisting and the paddle can be glued with hot glue making disassembly easy and fast. The blade joint can also be glued with epoxy for a stronger and more permanent connection. The handle is adjustable by jus heating it up with a heat gun and easily adjusting the length without the need for any mechanical adjustment mechanism. Robert shows how to get hot glue spread evenly around the ferrules and inside the shaft by heating it well on both sides, taking it apart, adding hotglue if necessary and then re-assembling it. Removing the excess hot glue is easy if it is cooled off with water before removing it.
