The first race around the Isle Of Wight was back in 1931 and now it attracts over a thousand boats on its start line every year for the 50 mile lap. Now it looks like its the time for a wing lap. Tom Court, Ross Williams and Tom Buggy are going to be the first people to attempt to lap the island wing foiling all in the name of charity – Hasag. Its no small feat and some of the biggest and fastest sailing boats have competed including Ben Ainslie on an Americas Cup boat and the current record holder Concise 10 ( a Mod 70). With the lap of the island often being a bench mark for speed and endurance windsurfers and Kitesurfers have also tried their hand at a lap with the most recent notable attempt going to Guy Bridge on a Kitefoil board who took the kite record with a time of 2 hours 25 minutes and 5 seconds.

We’ll be raising money for Hasag Asbestos Disease Support before and during the attempt.
