I posted this video in the Facebook group, and someone mentioned there were not many videos showing wingers entering the water through shore pound and surf. It was not that long ago that I refused to ride the ocean because I got rolled hard in these waves.
I have found that waiting, reading the waves, reading the drop-off to deep water, and entering calmly with an eject strategy help mitigate the violent failures.
My current strategy is to get to the water deep enough to place the board foil down. Then, when a wave comes over the top, I try to force the nose of the board down while holding the wing way over my head so it does not get taken away. The strategy is not always successful, but it is all I have right now. The troughs go to thigh-high level while the peak is well over my head. Getting on the board to paddle out right away was not an option for these conditions. – The Wing Kook
