Manera – ERIC, le surfeur Dargent
Win a Forward Wip Wing Harness Line 2.0 & Wing Belt 2.0 Combo this issue in our FREE subscriber prize draw.
Premiering for the first time – Growing up near the Mediterranean, Eric Dargent fell in love with surfing at the age of 9. At the beginning of 2011, the Frenchman and his wife headed to Runion Island, hoping to settle to enjoy world-class surf conditions year-round. But in February, his life is abruptly turned upside down after being attacked by a shark during his daily session. Eric, 33 at the time, survives, but his left leg has to be amputated above the knee. His indomitable love for life and passion for surfing helped him reconstruct himself. Undeterred, his only goal is to surf again and live life to the fullest. He is back in the water before he can walk.
Over the following years, Eric invents, fine-tunes, and markets a prosthesis adapted to board sports, thus increasing inclusivity and accessibility in these disciplines. On top of it all, he also became a three-time Para Surf Vice World Champion and participated in seven World Championships.
